Wildfox Couture Fall 2013 review

Ok ok... I can't live in Hawaii land forever, and due to the lack of clothing I've been wearing over here my blog has turned into more of a travel blog than a fashion blog. So get ready for a switch-back.

A while back I wrote a review on the Wildfox Couture NY Fashion Week runway show for a fellow fashion blog. Here is my article that they published along with a few photos from the show. Enjoy!

New York fashion week... the tents, the snow, the black, the pajama parties? Yup, that's right. Pajama Parties during New York fashion week. Talk about a fresh of “cool” air. Who else could pull this off but Wildfox Couture, the sassy LA brand created by best friends, for best friends.

On February 6th Wildfox Couture debuted it's Fall 2013 “Great Gatsby” collection at a pajama party-Esq fashion show in New York City. Unlike many other designers who have taken inspiration from the book and extremely anticipated movie (coming out in May, finally), Wildfox stayed away from dark jewel tones and heavy fabrics. Keeping true to the brand, Wildfox made a “Gatsby” line heavy in humor and lined with light-hearted fun. Despite the fact that it includes a shirt that reads “Daisy”, the collection does not mirror her dark, destructive lifestyle at all.

Instead the collection mirrors the life of Gatsby's party goers, such as the twins in yellow dresses. The models in the show wore the brands signature oversized t-shirts with sequin miniskirts, velvet turbans, and gorgeous satin pajamas. The perfect mixture of luxury and casual humor.

This mixture is one that Wildfox repeatedly pulls off season after season. For Spring 2013, Wildfox gave the world a Clueless collection, complete with a yellow suit and an “As if!” sweater. 2012 included the resort collection titled “Granny's house”, a Romeo and Juliet themed Fall collection, and a Spring collection based off of western movies and the fantasy life of a beautiful cowgirl. Every collection taps into the adventurous, romantic, wild girl in all of us; from those who pretend to be witches to those who are “really a mermaid”.

Personally, I can't wait until the Gatsby collection is on sale and the look book is posted online (please make a video for this collection! Please, please!) but until then I'm going to run around this summer in their reversible american flag bikini (which is perfectly cut and the material is to die for) and some of the blanket-like soft t-shirts I've already purchased.

Ciao Ciao,
Kk
