New blooms and my new summer uniform

Ladies and gentlemen may I introduce my new favorite outfit and my baby plants!!!

I can't even begin to describe how perfect this two piece set is!! The top is a halter top with two different ties, so just imagine two bows on the back :) The bottom piece is a skort (something I haven't owned since elementary school). I tore it open as soon as I got it and wore it for the rest of the day while gardening. It's from Beginning boutique and the reason why I am obsessed with their store now.

Hey there!

Here are some new sunflowers that just started sprouting! I found out this week that it's extremely important to use ONLY organic seeds! Seeds that are not organic usually have the pesticide "neonicotinoid". Neonicotinoids are an insecticide that have a similar chemical make up to nicotine. If your seeds arnt organic, they probably have Neonicotinoids in them, which means if your planting "bee friendly" plants but they're not organic, they're actually killing the bees!!!

I had to toss out some seeds I had that weren't organic and start all over with organic seeds:

I got the day off on Friday so Spencer and I decided to take a morning walk through Disneyland! I'm excited to see the park is planting wildflowers! (Good for bees)

Dressing up for Disneyland is always half the fun! Wildfox is usually my go to for Disney. Their clothes are quirky, comfy, and usually the perfect pastel colors for Disneyland!

 The tights I wore were another easy go to: DKNY thigh high look a likes! If your a shorter lady like myself, you know how difficult it gets to find the perfect thigh high that stays put and doesn't squeeze the wrong areas. Just toss on a jersey dress and bam! Done.

Since I live so close... We usually go home to eat lunch and nap haha I wasn't sleepy so I did another outfit change:

Flower power

While it doesn't feel like winter ever started... It's finally ending. Spring started on the 20th and I couldn't be happier.

Speaking of happy... Spencer and I dropped by the happiest place on earth on the last day or winter:

Anyways, back to Spring... With coachella coming up I decided to make my own flower crown. Flower crowns are popping up everywhere in online stores, but they're so easy (and fun!) to make at home! Clare, Clinton, and I made our own the other day taking inspiration from Lana Del Rey and flower girl Los Angeles (http://flowergirllosangeles.com). 

Want to make your own? First pick a color theme. Head over to your local craft store and pick out at least three different flowers (different sizes and shades of colors) and one type of leaf or vine. Next you need flower wire and some green ribbon. Size the wire around your head to measure the size of the crown (leave some extra room). Next, start to lay down your bigger flowers and tie them down with your ribbon. I wove some ivy around my crown first, then layered the flowers down by size. 

Clare went for bigger flowers for a different effect; 

I couldn't wait for Coachella to wear mine, so I wore it on the first day of Spring 😊

I also started growing some tiny plants on my balcony so I can start to use fresh herbs when I'm cooking!

Last night was the Wolfgang Puck dinner. 

Every single course was unbelievable! When I get more pictures I'll do a post just on the dinner but for now here's some dessert 😋

Ahoy ye landlubbers… there be a mermaid on our tail…

I'm taking this as a good omen for this wonderful brand new year: my favorite designer is drawing inspiration from one of my favorite movies, and from two of my favorite fantasies: Mermaids and Pirates. 

While the pirate inspiration will take some arguments, the mermaid inspiration is pretty in your face. Specifically speaking the mermaid Madison from the 1984 "Splash".  If you haven't seen it, Splash is a movie about a mermaid named Madison (Daryl Hannah) who saves Allen (Tom Hanks) from drowning as a child. Twenty something years later, Madison goes on land where she is reunited with Allen (who has no idea she's a mermaid). 

There is a lot more to the movie, but "Tom Hanks" and "Mermaid" in the same sentence should have already sold it. 

Anyways, for their white label look book, Wildfox has found a Madison look-alike: Pro-surfer Hanalei Reponty. Hanalei is a self proclaimed "Mermaid from the beautiful island of Tahiti" (follow her on instagram @hanaleireponty ).  I've included a few of my favorite images below with scenes from "Splash" placed in-between.

I personally enjoy the less "cartoony" items that Wildfox designs, but there were plenty of loud ice cream patterns and neon fruit sweaters etc. Many of the items have a heavy hawaiian influence, such as the shorts above. While staying over in Hawaii last summer, I found a company called Wonderland Honolulu. Wonderland makes the most amazing pom-pom shorts, and while I'm sure they aren't the only ones doing it, theres are just simply perfection. Billabong has already taken up the trend and it looks like Wildfox is as well (I'm still rooting for wonderland's!)

I also picked up a heavy pirate vibe in this look book. It might not have been as in your face as the "Splash" influence, but the pictures below screamed Keira Knightley stranded on an Island with Jack to me.

Double rainbow: hair chalk

So for the second weekend of Halloween celebrations, I was a unicorn/mylittlepony/double rainbow etc. 

Basically anything mystical that might have rainbow hair.... to achieve the look I used hair chalk. Right after showering, I started layering on the chalk: purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red on top:

So hair chalk REALLY REALLY REALLY dries out your hair (bad). I used a deep conditioner and a hair mask (both from pantene pro-v) before chalking my hair and it still dried out. 

Add hair gel and keep brushing! 

The more you brush the more the chalk falls out (it's temporary... which is good if you have a legit job on Monday) so use a hot tool like a curling iron or a flat iron to lock the colors in place:

Oh... and if you dress up like a rainbow... chances are you're going to end up at the WeHo parade...

I'm also proud to announce that my eeyore pumpkin won "sexiest" pumpkin... 

I think the judges may have been drunk...
